Finland Futures Research Centre successfully trained the first Cuban practitioners on EnergyPLAN

During November-December 2019 FFRC trained nearly 40 practitioners on EnergyPLAN In Santiago, Moa and Havana in Cuba. Cuba’s current energy sector vision is to increase the share of renewables to 24% by 2030. Under the CRECE (erasmus-crece.fi) project supported by the European Commission under the Erasmus+ Capacity Building for Higher Education programme trainers from University of Turku modeled alternative development paths using Isla de la Juventud as an example. The participants in the training felt EnergyPLAN is a useful open access tool for the Cuban circumstances and can be utilise in municipal, regional or national simulation excercises.
